Seminar on unfair competition law – February 12th 2018

On February 12th 2018, Jean-Philippe ARROYO spoke during a seminar dedicated to Commercial Judges on unfair competition law, and more particularly on the general principles of the legal action and its link with the IP rights infringement action.

AIGA/AIJA “Law cost” seminar, Piacenza 23 February 2018

Clémence COLIN was a speaker at the seminar organized in Piacenza (Italy) on February 23rd 2018 by AIGA (Italian Association of Young Lawyers) and AIJA (International Association of Young Lawyers) on the topic “Law cost”, together with lawyers from Italy, Peru, Spain and Poland. She provided an overview of the Lawyers’ fees French regulation to Italian lawyers and members of the Piacenza Bar Council.

Seminar on the termination of the commercial relationship – December 8th 2017

On December 8th 2017, Jean-Philippe ARROYO spoke during a seminar dedicated to Commercial Judges on the termination of the commercial relationships, and more particularly on Article L442-6-I-5° of the French Commercial Code and international contracts.

AIJA seminar – Labour law and distribution law

On October 13th 2017, Clémence Colin and Jean-Philippe Arroyo were speakers during the seminars organized by AIJA on labour law and distribution law about :

Conference on personal data – Max Schrems

On Mars 24th 2017, Jean-Philippe Arroyo spoke during the conference organized by the AFCDP about transfers of personal data outside the European Union.

During this conference, Jean-Philippe Arroyo debated with Max Schrems, who is responsible of the invalidity of the Safe Harbor by the CJUE in a judgement of October 6th 2015.

Bruno Gencarelli (Head of service of data protection in the European Commission), Florence Raynal (Head of service of European and international business of the CNIL (French data protection authority)) and Pascale Gelly (Vice President of the AFCDP) also spoke during this conference.

Thomas RICARD participated at the PEOPIL Young Lawyers Conference in Malaga (Spain) on 24 March and spoke on cross-bord claims, providing an overview of the key evidentiary issues arising in such context.

New York State Bar Association – Paris, October 2016

Jean-Philippe ARROYO was a speaker during the Seasonal Meeting of New York State Bar Association in Paris on October 20th 2016, on the topic of the distribution on the internet.

Seminar on Flex Work, International Litigation and Assets Transactions – AIJA October 2016

Thomas RICARD and Clémence COLIN have participated, as members of the Organizing Committee, in the triple seminar « Flex Work, International Litigation and Assets Transactions » located in Lille from 13th to 15th October 2016 in the framework of AIJA (International Association of Young Lawyers), with international lawyers.

Employment law

The seminar in employment law dealt with “Flex work” (“Flex work: how far is it flexible?”), and more particularly with global variations on traditional employment relationship models.

Clémence COLIN gave a presentation on the “legal right to disconnect”. New technologies have had a significant impact on employment relationships, in particular on employees work time. The legal measures of French law of August 8th 2016 have been analyzed, with a focus on employees working a given number of days per year without any hourly reference.

Litigation and commercial fraud

The seminar in litigation and commercial fraud dealt with the taking of evidence in an international framework and with the complex issues raised by transnational litigation.

Thomas RICARD gave a presentation of the taking of evidence. His presentation notably dealt with blocking statutes and the use of evidence obtained illegally.

Jean-Philippe ARROYO was a speaker at the seminar organized by AIJA in Basel from 12 to 14 March 2015 on the topic of “health data”.

Seminar on Employment law – Kitzbühel

Clémence COLIN was a speaker in the Employment law session at the seminar organized by AIJA in Kitzbühel from 28th to 31st January 2015 on the topic “A comprehensive view of the M&A process”.

The employers’ obligations related to employees in transfer of undertakings in M&A operations were presented from the perspective of European law and French law. The presentation focused on the information of individual employees which is not formally provided by the European directive 2001/23/EC of March 12th 2001 and French law, except in the absence of employees’ representatives, but strongly recommended.

Furthermore, the consequences of the transfer on individual employment contracts was examined, through the right of the employees to object or not.

Recent French law n°2014-856 of July 31st 2014 was also commented considering the new binding obligation of employers to inform individual employees of the transfer in order to allow them to present a purchase offer.

Sports law seminar – Dublin

Clémence COLIN was a speaker during the seminar on Sports law organized by AIJA in Dublin from 23 to 25 October 2014 on the topic of disciplinary sanctions within clubs as employers and within federations.

Relationship between Italian companies and Commercial agents

Linda CAPOANO and Clémence COLIN will give a seminar on this important subject in Treviso on September 18th 2014, in association with UNINDUSTRIA.

AIJA Congress 2014

Jean-Philippe ARROYO and Clémence COLIN were speakers during the AIJA Congress that was held in Prague from 26 to 30 August 2014.

Jean-Philippe ARROYO was the co-general reporter of the workshop relating to the class actions and chaired this session where lawyers from several jurisdictions spoke.

He also won the Award of the Best General Reporter of the Congress.

Clémence COLIN spoke during a session relating to company directors and more particularly on their status regarding employment law.

Jean-Philippe ARROYO was a speaker at the seminar organized by AIJA in London from 3 to 5 April 2014 on the topic of data protection and social networks.

UIA Congress – Barcelona March 28th 2014

Martine KARSENTY-RICARD has made a speech, on March 28th 2014, in Barcelona during a conference organized by the International Association of Lawyers about : “Fashion online – Legal and contractual trends and challenges”.

She has spoken on : “Infringement and the internet”, on the main following topics :

– Extrajudicial and legal proceedings regarding infringement of a trademark by a domain name;

– The recent case law on the use of a third parties trademark as a key world for referencing ;

– The recent European and national case law regarding the liability of online auction websites (Ebay).

AIJA Conference – Competition – distribution law and Labour law

Jean-Philippe ARROYO and Clémence COLIN were speakers at the AIJA half year Conference in Luxembourg from 20 to 23 November 2013, on the following topics: Restrictions of sales on the internet in French intellectual property law, and Collective consultation in French labour law.

Martine KARSENTY-RICARD was the International Rapporteur on question B which was discussed during the LIDC congress which took place in Prague from October 11th to October 14th 2012 : « Should or could an undertaking obtain protection against the usage by non-competing undertakings of their trademark, distinctive signs and other components of their image and identity ? »
